On the 14th of November, Grundfos South Africa hosted a fundraising golf day at the Germiston Golf Club. The objective of the golf day was to raise funds for different projects that Grundfos intends on implementing in the coming year.
These projects focus on creating water awareness and providing access to water and sanitation as per the UN’s Sustainable Development Goal 6. According to the UN-Water, almost half of people who drink water from unprotected sources live in Sub- Saharan African, only 24% of the population have access to safe drinking water. As sources of water deplete we must preserve water and seek alternate sources.
Grundfos is committed to assisting with knowledge, getting water to people and empowering young minds through different projects we are supporting. One such project is our “Know water” project which targets Maths & Science learners to teach them the importance of water conservation and preservation. This project is to ensure that the youth is actively taking part in creating future solutions for the water crises that Africa and the world at large are currently facing. The project has been implemented with 2 schools and the pupils have expressed immense gratitude for the knowledge that has opened the minds to the opportunities available in water technology. Through sufficient funding, we hope to bring this opportunity to more pupils.
The golf day was a success as different parties came to play, donate and sponsor different items that made the day what it was. Our customers and suppliers came out in numbers in full support of Grundfos and for this we are grateful. We thank everyone that played a role in making the day a success.
