A complete solar-powered system for South African school for pupils with learning disabilities

Elandspark school in the east of Gauteng province, South Africa, is a special school for children with learning disabilities. The school has children who come from all walks of life and face different sociological issues.

As with many schools, the school has facilities maintained and operated with water such as their private sports field which they often rent out for events for extra income as only 10% of the learners pay school fees. The government school receives little funding and depends on some fees paid and donations.

In 2013, Grundfos donated a complete system consisting of an RSI unit, SP pump, CRFlex, and solar panels and water tanks to the value of +-R210 000. The system was recently upgraded with a new RSI unit to replace the one installed in 2013.

The principal of the school, Mr. Du Plessis is pleased and grateful for the upgraded system which is assisting the school greatly with water supply. Grundfos is proud to have contributed to this sustainable solution.
