Energy meter

Energy meters are used to measure energy consumption. They are typically used when settling accounts with district heating companies. Energy meters are also used internally in large buildings to register the consumption of heat and cooling of different systems.

Examples include heating and cooling surfaces in HVAC systems or a system for production of domestic hot water. Energy meters are also used to register heat consumption in each apartment in blocks of flats.

Heat meters used internally in buildings can be connected to BMS or special bus systems. This allows the superintendent or maintenance technician to read the meters via a computer. It eases the creation of heat consumption reports for blocks of flats, and can also be used to monitor a system, and register sudden spikes in consumption. These can indicate that a problem has occurred.
