GO CAPS - WebCAPS goes mobile
On 4 June 2012, Grundfos launched GO CAPS - the app version of the well-known CAPS (Computer-Aided Product Selection) - for the benefit of customers as well as Grundfos sales and service people.
Project Manager, Morten Jørgensen, Technical Marketing, explains: “Overall it supports our business strategy, so we go mobile with the CAPS solution because we want to bring relevant CAPS functionalities from the desktop into the mobile workplace. By doing so we shall join the technological evolution, live up to our customers’ expectations and defend our market position”.
The expectations are high – especially because Grundfos already has collected very positive experiences with their German version introduced in October 2010 as one of the first mobile selection tools for circulators worldwide.
Since then the number of active users of the German version has reached almost 17,000.
Externally, the Grundfos GO CAPS targets sales engineers, service partners, installers and professional end-users, and it can be used on an iPhone, iPod touch or iPad. The app is highly intuitive, uses real live CAPS data and adds value to our customers’ business thanks to attractive features which make it a valuable tool for the daily work within all Grundfos application areas.
The GO CAPS features include:
- Search a product
- Size a product
- Replace products
- Compare products
- View products
- View documents
- Service part list.
“We introduce this 1.0 version and continue the innovation work. It will cover 11 languages with more languages to follow in the future. At the beginning it will solely work when online. Until now we have based our development on the experiences from CAPS and the German market. We are investigating the possibilities for compatibility with Android phones but we do not have a time schedule yet. In addition, we have valuable input from external usability experts, customer analyses and a real test among customers. Having listened thoroughly to experts and future users, we feel confident that GO CAPS will go down well with the customers – existing and potential”, concludes Morten Jørgensen.
