South Africa Celebrates Nelson Mandela Day

18/07/2013

67 seconds of silence

Today is Nelson Mandela Day and it’s his 95th Birthday. “Happy Birthday Tata.” Although he is still very ill and in hospital the whole of South Africa is celebrating his life and birthday and it is no different at GZA.

All staff assembled outside this morning for 67 seconds of silence.
Mandela Day is a time for South Africans to reflect on what they can be grateful for, how they can make a difference in others’ lives and roll up their sleeves and do something good for those less fortunate.

A team of GZA employees went to a local school that was identified and are in need of assistance in their vegetable garden. The vegetables that are grown at the school are important for the students to attend class and have at least 1 meal a day.
