Grundfos South Africa has been awarded a Merit award for Training.
The Merit Award from VUT (Vaal University of Technology) is in recognition of the contribution Grundfos makes to Experiential Training (24 week in-service practical) for their students.
VUT is one of three technical universities that have acknowledged the course content and training provided at the GZA academy for Diploma studies.
The course is comprehensive, covering basic and advanced hydraulics, pipes, valves, diesel engines, vee belts and pulleys, mechanical seals as well as other types of pumps. Dudley Willer the Knowledge Manager at GZA says that the students who attend are either Mechanical or Electrical graduates along with some of our distributors who have identified sales staff within their organization with sales and technical back grounds and in need of the intense training course to further their careers in the pump industry.
The course is a full time course attended over a 22 week period covering both academic and practical training. Training on product specific and solutions are presented by product managers from South Africa and if the opportunity presents itself when a specialist from Europe visits SA we will utilise their skills as well so that the students get the best training at all times.
The 22 week course is valued around R50k per student which is offered to them for free. “The reason we do this is so that we can maintain the pump knowledge and grow the pump industry in South Africa”, Dudley comments.
